I thought it was hard to pack my life into a car when moving to Ithaca for the first time, unfortunately it seems even harder to pack everything into two suitcases. I think it's made even harder when I don't know what will be available over there (is contact lens solution common? what about allergy medication?). Needless to say, I probably don't need all of the clothes/shoes that are preliminarily tucked into my suitcase.
